Issy Waluga & James Bond

In this news update, we thought we would profile one of our younger Team Childéric advocates; Issy Waluga. We met Issy a couple of years ago at Olympia Horse Show and as they say,  the rest is history! Over to you Issy..

"I started riding when I was five and shared ponies with the Wickstead Farm Pony Club from the age of nine. When I was thirteen, we bought Rupert, an eventing schoolmaster. Like me, Rupert adored the galloping and jumping, but the dressage? Not so much!

I worked hard to improve this, but still, it felt like our weakest area. We decided to invest in a dressage saddle after meeting Tricia and the team at Olympia. We were taken aback by the passion and experience, and so we asked her to visit me & Rupert at our yard.

Within a week Tricia arrived and spent some time to understand my goals and concerns. She was with us for over an hour and studied both him and me (!). We tried on different saddles to piece together the perfect fit for us. Suddenly it just clicked - I felt great, my leg was perfect, Rupert looked relaxed and free in the shoulder and back! Perfection!

We went on to have a fantastic season with VWH Pony Club and at all the big events, ending up at the Pony Club Championships Novice ODE! Rupert now has a slightly quieter pace of life, and James (Libris Vagabond) is my new horse. He’s a 17.2hh  8-year-old bay with the famous Jumbo and Bandmaster as grandparents. We hope to compete in the BE Under 18's as soon as possible!

I’m lucky enough that he too has been fitted with both Childéric Dressage and Jump saddles.

Tricia fitted both saddles and has always been there to help and answer questions. Childéric has also supplied additional equipment for me from girth’s, saddle pads, breastplates. These have always been fitted precisely after listening to what I needed and offering advice, for which I’m very grateful for. What’s amazing is I never have to wait for more than a few days - I can’t book a general saddler for weeks locally, but Tricia has always been there for us with advice, knowledge, support and experience. She’s exceptional.

We did our first BE90 together this weekend, and we took a rosette home. I’m so delighted with him and the saddles. Our next 90 is at Solihull, and we’ve all got our fingers and hooves crossed for another double clear and qualification to 100's.

Childéric were head and shoulders above the rest of the brands we looked at both for service and a quality product - I feel safe, and he feels comfortable.
